Embasis Paper Privacy Policy

Embasis Paper is designed for private, focused writing. It is a focused writing companion that lets you write whatever you want, while a local on-device neural model responds back to you directly on your hardware.

Handwriting recognition and AI replies run on your device. Model downloads and Google ML Kit technical telemetry use network connections. Device backups may also include your saved writing, depending on your settings.

2. Model Downloads & Offline Recognition

Embasis Paper has no backend servers for text processing or AI inference. The app does not transmit your writing over the internet.

Google ML Kit Digital Ink Recognition downloads an English recognition model from Google on Wi-Fi. Optional companion models download from Hugging Face and its file delivery services. These services receive ordinary network information, such as your IP address and the requested file. Handwriting and conversation content are not included in these download requests. Once the required models are ready, recognition and replies work offline. Apple recognition remains available when the Google model is unavailable.

3. Accounts & Identifiers

You are never asked to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal details (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use Embasis Paper.

Paper does not use an advertising identifier (IDFA) or require an account. Google ML Kit generates a per-installation identifier for SDK metrics. This means the app should not be described as collecting no identifiers.

4. Google ML Kit Technical Telemetry

Paper uses Google ML Kit Digital Ink Recognition to recognize handwriting directly from pen strokes. Google states that recognition input and output are processed on-device and are not sent to Google servers. Paper does not send your handwriting, recognized text, prompts, or AI replies to Google for recognition or model inference.

The SDK does collect and send technical information to Google for diagnostics, usage analysis, and service improvement. Google's iOS disclosure lists device information, app bundle and version information, a per-installation identifier, API configuration and usage events, processing latency, error codes, and the configured recognition languages. Offline recognition does not mean the SDK has no telemetry when a network connection is available.

Paper contains no advertising networks and does not sell your writing. Google's handling and retention of SDK information are governed by its terms and privacy policy. Clearing a page removes local writing; it does not erase technical information already received by Google.

Links in Paper open external websites with their own privacy practices. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include, and use it to respond to your inquiry.

5. Device Permissions

Embasis Paper is intentionally simple and self-contained. It does not request or require access to sensitive device permissions, including:

• No Location access
• No Microphone or Speech Recognition access
• No Camera or Photos access
• No Contacts, Calendar, or Reminders access

6. Data Retention, Control, and Deletion

Paper saves your ink and conversation locally, including content that has faded from view. Use Settings → Clear page & conversation to remove that page's saved ink and messages.

Clearing a page keeps downloaded companion models installed. Deleting the app removes its local app data. These actions do not remove copies in existing iCloud or computer backups; manage those separately through your backup settings.

Note: If you back up your device using Apple iCloud Backup or computer backups, your local app data may be included in your personal encrypted device backups according to your iOS backup configuration.

7. Children's Privacy

Paper does not ask for a name, age, or account. Google ML Kit technical telemetry described above can be collected whenever the SDK is used; this policy does not claim an exception for younger users. 8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically to reflect future app enhancements. When changes are made, the updated version will be published on this page with an updated date.
